There’s plenty to do in Coburg! This Upper Franconian town is a model of conviviality and hospitality. Celebrations, festivals, concerts, readings and exhibitions are held almost all-year-round. Whether hot rhythms and good vibes at the International Samba Festival, authentic brass band music at the marksmen's festival or hip jazz bands at the Coburg Designtage event - there’s something for everyone here.

Marksmen's festival

This festival, which takes place on Ketschenanger, was first officially mentioned in 1444, making it the oldest local traditional festival. To kick off the festival, a gigantic beer barrel is tapped, and a firework display lights up the sky.

It’z Jazz

Extraordinary music experience

In June what started as a jazz night has now become a fully-fledged festival with musical greats. Every year Coburg plays host to some of the biggest names in jazz, like Salvador Sobral, Max Mutzke, Fred Wesley or Adam Bałdych.

Thrilling rhythms

For three days the town is turned upside-down! In July Coburg hosts the largest samba party in the world outside of Brazil since 1992. Over a hundred thousand visitors flock to the town to dance, drum, and party.

An event of the extra class

As soon as the last drum roll of the samba festival has faded away, the Coburg Palace Square Festival in July will be a little quieter. Nonetheless, amidst a stunning backdrop, Coburg’s finest gastronomes serve up specialities of the highest order. And to top it all off, every night live music is performed by superb bands, along with breathtaking showtime acts featuring stars of stage and vaudeville.

Taste & enjoy

The summer festival season comes to an end with the Klößmarkt (dumplings market). Coburg’s unique ‘Rutscher’ dumplings can be enjoyed at the market square as an accompaniment to roasts of all kinds, including vegetarian options. This year the event will take place from August 30th to September 1st.

Kongresshaus Rosengarten

Coburg's conference centre

The conference centre has been a social, cultural and economic centre in Coburg since it was first built in 1962. It reopened again in 1987 after a two-year renovation project. This small but attractive complex is an impressive proof that the Kongresshaus Rosengarten can be the perfect setting for successful events.

Studio stage with charm

The studio stage of the state theatre captivates with its atmosphere and entertaining shows. There is virtually no separation between the audience and stage, allowing easy interaction between both and providing scope for various open forms of theatre.
