The number of attractions and personalities with their own stories to tell here in Coburg seems endless. Visitors will quickly notice the metropolitan flair that runs through the town squares, or unfolds during the various events: whether it’s dancing to hot rhythms at the International Samba Festival, visiting Coburg's Theatre Reithalle or a creative discourse during the Designtage event.

Veste Express
Coburg's "Bimmelbahn"
You can reach Coburg Fortress (Veste Coburg) by foot. The varied walk through the idyllic court garden takes about half an hour and is great fun, especially in nice weather. However, the castle complex lies on an elevation and the path leads steadily uphill. Walkers need to have a bit of fitness to walk up the hill. More comfortable is a ride on the Coburg Geckobahn, which children like to call the "Bimmelbahn". During the summer months, the yellow-green train waits for its guests in Herrngasse near the tourist information office - conveniently almost in front of an ice cream parlour - and takes them to the fortress.
The Coburg Geckobahn runs from Tuesday to Sunday. You can find out the exact times at the tourist information office or at the stop.
