The Buerglaßschloesschen in Coburg is a historic gem, reflecting classicist architecture and a rich history.

In former times known as the Bulgarian Palace or Augusta Palace, it is situated close to the Coburg State Theatre. Acquired in 1794 by Prince Friedrich Josias of Saxe-Coburg-Saalfeld (1737–1815), the building was transformed into a classicist manor house for his retirement. A statue of the prince at Theatre Square points the way to this elegant residence. Over the years, the Buerglaßschloesschen served as a home to duchess dowager Auguste, Prince August of Saxe-Coburg-Koháry, and Ferdinand I, Tsar of Bulgaria. Today, the building houses offices of Coburg’s town administration, including the registry office.
