Goldberg Lake (Goldbergsee)

Short facts

  • Coburg
  • Lakes
Goldberg Lake (Goldbergsee) is one of the most visited recreational areas and is located between the districts of Neuses and Beiersdorf. The reservoir covers an area of 145 hectares and serves the people of Coburg primarily as a flood control basin. The lake and its surroundings have become a popular destination for walkers, hikers, cyclists and nature lovers. A magnificent view of Callenberg Castle, majestically enthroned on a mountain above the lake, and of the nature reserve “Vogelfreistätte Glender Wiesen” make an excursion an experience. The 14 km long circular hiking trail “Coburger Meer”, which leads along Goldberg Lake, is also recommended.
From May to September, the local restaurant “Goldstrand” offers food and drinks and creates a real beach feeling with deckchairs in the sand. Next door, the pedal boat rental invites you to take relaxed laps around the lake.
