Experience the tranquillity of Coburg’s Rose Garden

The Rose Garden (Rosengarten) opened in 1929 to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Coburg gardening club. Created for the German rose show, the garden initially featured 15,000 blooming roses of diverse varieties, surrounded by artfully designed ponds, watercourses, and arbours. Over the decades, the Rose Garden became one of Coburg’s most cherished landmarks. In 1947, the City of Coburg took over maintenance, transforming the garden into a modern recreational area during the 1960s and 1980s. Today, visitors can stroll through lush greenery and enjoy the palm house and the flood fountain created by Coburg artist Ferdinand Lepcke. A commemorative stone honors the legacy of Johann Strauss, the King of Waltz, who became a citizen of Coburg in 1887. The palm house, located at the southern end of the park, offers a tropical escape with its bird aviaries, orchids, palms, cacti, bamboo, and other exotic plants.
It is open daily, including Sundays and public holidays, from 9 am to 4 pm (May to September: 9 am to 6 pm). Admission is free.
